"The Clouds Of Half Dome"

What a great weekend in the Yosemite Valley, with good friends Ally, Casey, and Joe. We were even lucky enough to run into a number of great photographers and friends, like Brian with his Aperture Academy, Michael Frye, Jeff, Lori, G Dan, Aaron and Alan Rich, Chan.

It seemed like every photographer in the Bay Area was up there for Horsetail Falls, which, unfortunately did not go as planned do to lack of water run off. But when you have drama filled clouds like this for an entire day, there is no shortage of great photos in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
“The Storms A Coming”

In the San Francisco Bay Area, the last couple of weeks have felt more like April than February. Crystal clear blue skies, bright sun, temperatures in the 60′s. So alas, all good things must come to an end. When I checked the weather today, and saw the next 6 days call for heavy rain, I decided I had to try to get one last good sunset in before the storm. So I threw the camera, the tripod, and the dog in the car and sped on down to Rodeo Beach in Sausalito. I had aover an hour to spare before the sunset, so I spent most of that time taking shots of the surfers, who, judging by the large number of them in the water, had the same “now or never” attitude when they checked the weather forcast.
“Sunrise Peak”

It really is mind boggling that with a simple focal length of 432mm (ok, not THAT simple, but just go with it), you can see snow in this view from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley, a place that regularly reaches 120 degrees F in the summer. This was taken at Sunrise. As you can see, the desert sky is beautiful at this time!
“Marbled Mountain”

Catching a sunrise at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park is a must see activity while you are there. The soft pink colors splashed on the mountain ranges across the valley are amazing. This is a very popular sunrise spot. There was about 5 other photographers while I was there (including Ken Hoffman, who is from Tiburon the town next to mine) and about 20 non photographers, just there to enjoy the amazing scene.

This is a photo I actually took after the sun had rose and the pink colors had mainly disappeared. I just love the look of the rock formation. The marbleized color scheme in the foreground is such a unique pattern I will post some earlier sunrise photos in the days to come!
“Zabriskie Point”

So, are you sick of seeing my photos from Death Valley National Park? Too bad, because the place is awesome, and I am busy as hell, and these are already processed! This is another sunrise shot, of Zabriskie Point! Damn, I love this place. I want to go back, NOW!

"Jailed City"

This is an old photo. A couple of years I believe. Since I have been super busy with some photography projects I have to finish, I haven’t had much time for my “personal” photography. =( So I realized I had never made this a photo of the day. So, here it is!

I took this with a 400+mm focal length from downtown Tiburon CA.
