"Easy Tacheles"

First, before today's photos, take a look at a previous post explaining what exactly Tacheles in Berlin is.

Anyway, work is busy busy busy. I find myself with rarely any free time to go through and process my own personal photos, since I spend most of my day photographing client's needs and processing and delivering the photos they pay me for. It started to occur to me that I probably have processed only about 5% of my photos from Europe. I went to Europe 6 months ago! Well, as I tried to add more photos to my external hard drive this week, I was greeted with a "This computer can not read this hard drive" Uh oh. Then after numerous attempts, the drive just stopped running. Great. So, I am facing the possibility of EVERYTHING on that drive being lost INCLUDING all my Europe photos. Looks like I need to move to the cloud.

Chances are though, its just a mechanical failure with the device and the data is intact. I just need to pay someone a boatload for "data recovery". So all this reminded me of Europe, so I decided to share a photo from the amazing artist community of Tacheles. This was from the same room as the welder I shared above. It took about 5 minutes standing in this spot before I was able to get a brief couple of seconds with no on in the frame. This place is amazing. If you are ever in Berlin, you MUST GO!

"Bottles Of The Guinness Brewery"

Walking into the Guinness Brewery in Dublin Ireland, you are immediately greeted by every style bottle a glorious pint of Guinness was ever packaged in. It is quite a cool scene. It also happens to make you very thirsty. A pint of Guinness taste 100x better in this country.
"The Dogs Of Interstate 5"

Heading down to Las Vegas, Nevada from San Francisco, California on Interstate 5 can be rather boring. It's long, straight and empty. It gives a photographer a chance to test out his skills on something OTHER than landscapes (even though I got a couple good ones, somehow, to be posted later). So pulling over at a truck stop and being greeted by the resident twin dogs, is a very exciting moment on a very boring, desolate highway.
"The Graffiti through the T-1000"

When I look at this photo, I can't help but think of the bad ass T-1000 Terminator in the movie Terminator 2. You know, the Governator would shoot him with a shotgun, or run over him with a garbage truck, and this unstoppable force of awesomeness would turn liquid metal and quickly regenerate. This scenes is right about when he get shot in the shoulder with Ahnald's shotgun.

The metal is actually a deteriorating door at a old Army bunker in the Marin Headlands, Sausalito, California.
“The Storms A Coming”

In the San Francisco Bay Area, the last couple of weeks have felt more like April than February. Crystal clear blue skies, bright sun, temperatures in the 60′s. So alas, all good things must come to an end. When I checked the weather today, and saw the next 6 days call for heavy rain, I decided I had to try to get one last good sunset in before the storm. So I threw the camera, the tripod, and the dog in the car and sped on down to Rodeo Beach in Sausalito. I had aover an hour to spare before the sunset, so I spent most of that time taking shots of the surfers, who, judging by the large number of them in the water, had the same “now or never” attitude when they checked the weather forcast.
“Cavallo Point Sunset”

Last night, I found myself heading to the Adobe headquarters to participate in a Photoshop user group demonstration by the knowledgeable and very entertaining, Russell Brown. Check out his Adobe Photoshop tips and tricks here. Learned some cool stuff! Plus he has a TON of very cool photoshop actions, that he makes available for everyone to download (such as being able to create a star trails photo, with just one star photo!)

Anyway, I had some time to spare before heading into San Francisco, so I decided to stop at Cavallo Point in Sausalito, to catch some sunset shots of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge. This was the very first photo I took when I got out of my car, and as far as I can tell, the best of the shoot!
“Sunrise Peak”

It really is mind boggling that with a simple focal length of 432mm (ok, not THAT simple, but just go with it), you can see snow in this view from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley, a place that regularly reaches 120 degrees F in the summer. This was taken at Sunrise. As you can see, the desert sky is beautiful at this time!
“Marbled Mountain”

Catching a sunrise at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park is a must see activity while you are there. The soft pink colors splashed on the mountain ranges across the valley are amazing. This is a very popular sunrise spot. There was about 5 other photographers while I was there (including Ken Hoffman, who is from Tiburon the town next to mine) and about 20 non photographers, just there to enjoy the amazing scene.

This is a photo I actually took after the sun had rose and the pink colors had mainly disappeared. I just love the look of the rock formation. The marbleized color scheme in the foreground is such a unique pattern I will post some earlier sunrise photos in the days to come!
“Zabriskie Point”

So, are you sick of seeing my photos from Death Valley National Park? Too bad, because the place is awesome, and I am busy as hell, and these are already processed! This is another sunrise shot, of Zabriskie Point! Damn, I love this place. I want to go back, NOW!
